A crane is a machine that can raise and lower heavy objects, and it moves horizontally. Cranes are distinct from hoists, lift objects, which can, but that they can not move sideways. Cranes are also distinguished from promoters that move and lift bulk materials like grain and coal, in a continuous process. The word crane is from the fact that these machines have adopted a similar shape as that of the large, long-necked bird with the same name use to lift loaded asseblies.

Man has used a variety of equipment to lift heavy objects since ancient times. to develop one of the earliest versions of the crane was the shadoof, first used to move water in Egypt, four thousand years ago. The shadoof consists of a long, pivoting beam balanced on a vertical support. A heavy weight is attached to one end of the bar and a bucket on the other. The user pulls the bucket down to the water, it fills, then the weight can pull up the bucket. The beam is then rotated to the desired position and emptied the bucket. The shadoof is still used in rural areas of Egypt and India.

As in the first century cranes manufacturers were built, was powered by humans or animals to operate a large treadmill or bike. These early cranes consisted of a long wooden beam, known as a boom, coupled with a rotating base. The bike or treadmill powered a drum, around which a rope was wound. The rope was on a pulley at the top of the boom and connected to a hook that the weight lifted.

An important development in crane design occurred during the Middle Ages, when a horizontal arm was known as the jib boom. The jib, the boom in a way that allows fixed pivot point, allowing for increased mobility. In the sixteenth century, cranes with two treadmills, one built on each side of a rotating body with the boom.

Cranes continued to human or animal power to the middle of the nineteenth century, steam engines were developed as a support. By the end of the nineteenth century, internal combustion engines and electric motors used to power cranes. At that time, steel instead of wood was used to build the most cranes.Crane are a assembly of  gears  , gearboxes , cheses, baering, motors etc

During the first half of the twentieth century, European and American Cranes developed in different ways. In Europe, where most of the hoist cranes were used in cities with narrow streets, cranes tended to be built in the form of tall, slender towers, with the boom and the operator on top of the tower. Because quiet operation was important, in crowded cities, these tower cranes usually driven by electric motors when they become generally available.

In the india , cranes were often used at locations far away from residential areas. Cranes tend connected with the boom with a trolley to be moved easily from place to place, to be built. These mobile cranes are more driven by internal combustion engines. combined in the 1950s, the availability of stronger steel,  eot crane manufacturers india  with an increased demand for more buildings, fixed led to the development of cranes with long booms small trucks, caterpillars or caterpillars. Mobile cranes and tower cranes of many different species are used extensively in construction sites around the world .
